Baptist Employee Referral Program
 


Baptist Memorial Health Care recognizes the importance of recruiting highly qualified staff to provide the highest quality of care possible. Filling a vacant position is a high priority, and accordingly, a referral bonus may be granted to Baptist employees who refer an applicant that is hired by the hospitals.

Eligibility

All employees are eligible to participate in the program regardless of status (FT, PT or PRN) unless they are excluded. (See the conditions below for exclusion).
  • The referring employee must be employed by the organization at the time of referral
  • The referring employee must be employed by the organization at the time of hire of the referred candidate
  • The referring employee must remain an employee of the organization to be eligible for subsequent referral bonus payments

Exclusions

The following are not eligible for referral under this program:
  • Current employees transferring within BMHCC
  • Temp, agency, travelers or contract personnel already working on site at a BMHCC facility

The following groups and individuals are NOT eligible (to refer an applicant and) to receive the referral bonus:
  • Temporary agency staff
  • Administrative staff
  • Members of management
  • Members of the human resources department

Candidate Referral Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for referral under the Employee Referral Program, referred applicants must fully meet the qualification requirements listed in the job description for the position.

Referral Procedure

Applicant MUST include the name of the current Baptist employee who referred them on the application for employment that he or she submits to Employment Services:
  • This is done on the last page of the application under the section heading "Referral Source" and "Current Employee referred me ____________,"
  • This MUST be done at the time the application is submitted to employment.

Duplicate Referrals

If duplicate referrals occur, the first referral received will be eligible for payment. If a joint referral is made (and received at the same time), the Referral Bonus will be split evenly between the referring staff.

Selection Procedures
The employment application will be reviewed through the normal hiring procedures. The appropriate employment staff member will review the application. If the applicant meets the specified qualifications for the position, the application will be referred to the hiring department for review and evaluation. The hiring manager will make the selection decision for the position. All information regarding the reason(s) for making a decision not to hire an applicant will remain strictly confidential. Applicants must successfully complete all aspects of the pre-employment process.

Position Changes
If a referred employee changes to another position that is full time and still one of the qualifying jobs codes, the referrer will remain eligible for the future installments of the Referral Bonus. If a referred employee leaves through termination or resignation, or drop below the defined Full Time status (64 hours bi-weekly), the referring employee shall not be eligible for the remainder of the referral bonus.

Hard-to-Fill Quarterly Position Designations

Management in conjunction with Human Resources/Employment Services will determine on a yearly basis the positions covered for the $2,000 referral bonus ("Hot Jobs"). The employee referral bonus applies only to those positions listed that result in regular Full Time hires (64 hours biweekly or more) (relief or PRN staff are excluded).

Payment Procedures

Upon initial hire, the referring employee will receive a check for $500 less tax withholding ($250 for part-time positions). The referred employee will also receive a check for $500 less tax withholdings ($250 for part-time positions). This will appear on the second check after said referred employee starts employment. Upon the referred employee's successful completion of the required one year of full time employment, the referring employee will receive a check for $500 less tax withholding and the referred employee will receive a check for $500 less tax withholdings ($250 for part-time positions).
