The simulation lab at Baptist DeSoto is a 2,400-square-foot clinical training center that provides our staff with an open environment to practice, develop, and grow in their skills. The lab is designed for use by all members of the nursing staff, students, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, ED physicians, anesthetists, and other clinical practitioners.
With the use of high-fidelity simulators that talk, breathe, and bleed, our staff can replicate real-life situations in a laboratory created to look like actual patient care rooms. The lab is used for many of the clinical staff's training needs, such as running mock codes; Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support classes; and team-building events. The lab serves as a major focus during orientation for students and new hires by providing a controlled environment and individualized training necessary to enhance competency and education. Northwest Mississippi Community College, Union University, University of Memphis and other schools that use Baptist DeSoto as a clinical practice site can train in the lab and classroom. The simulation lab was made possible through a grant from the Baptist Memorial Health Care Foundation in an effort to support safe patient care. The lab helps ensure Baptist DeSoto provides safe, patient-centered care by offering a proactive, hands-on educational environment for all health team members.  Top of Page |
