The Baptist DeSoto Sleep Disorders Center offers a comprehensive range of services and treatments for all sleep disorders, including obstructive sleep apnea, insomnia, restless legs syndrome and periodic limb movement disorder.

Located within the hospital, the center uses advanced digital technology and offers all-night polysomnographic monitoring and daytime nap testing by highly trained technicians. Treatment is individualized to each patient’s needs. Four sleep rooms (expandable to eight) with sound insulation and private bathrooms are available.

Adequate sleep is essential for healthy functioning and survival. Excessive daytime sleepiness is a major public health problem associated with poor job performance and reduced productivity, cognitive problems, and motor vehicle crashes (especially at night). Some studies indicate that chronic sleep loss also may contribute to diabetes, heart disease, obesity and other age-related chronic disorders.

Sleep Disorders
Obstructive sleep apnea a nighttime breathing disorder and the most common problem seen in the center. Signs include loud snoring, abnormal breathing, and excessive daytime sleepiness.
Narcolepsy a disorder of excessive daytime sleepiness, characterized by sudden and uncontrollable attacks of sleep.
Insomnia the inability to fall asleep or maintain sleep.
Restless legs syndrome/ periodic limb movement disorder repetitive movement problems that interrupt sleep and may be present with insomnia.
