Baptist HealthScore Screening Center offers tests for the following conditions:
Stroke/Carotid Artery Disease
Screening:
An ultrasound of the carotid arteries (large arteries in the neck supplying blood to the brain) is performed to look for buildup of fatty plaque that can narrow the artery and cause a stroke.
Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm
Screening:
This test screens for the existence of an enlargement in the abdominal aorta, which could possibly lead to a rupture. The abdominal aorta carries blood to the lower part of the body.
Peripheral Arterial Disease
Screening:
The screening measures blood flow at the ankle level to check for any blockages that have developed in the arteries of the legs. Abnormal results may indicate risk for peripheral arterial disease and increased risk of coronary artery disease.
The cost of the three vascular screening tests, the abdominal aortic aneurysm screening, the stroke/carotid artery disease screening and the peripheral arterial disease screening, is $125.
Osteoporosis
Screening:
Osteoporosis is a condition that involves gradual loss of bone mass, causing bones to become thinner, more fragile and more likely to break. DEXA is a quick, painless procedure for measuring bone loss and the most accurate method for the diagnosis of osteoporosis.
DEXA studies can also be done as a diagnostic procedure when a physician orders the procedure and can be billed through your insurance carrier. A diagnostic procedure is done when the patient has known osteoporosis or is under the care of a physician for fracture risks.
The cost of the DEXA screening is $75.
HeartScore
The HeartScore test is $99 all year only at the Baptist HealthScore Screening Center. Learn more about HeartScore.

A Special Notice about Screening Tests
Screening will not prevent stroke or complications of vascular disease, and it should not replace regular or annual evaluation by your personal physician. Anyone undergoing screening examinations should continue to work toward eliminating or treating risk factors such as smoking, hypertension, elevated blood cholesterol/lipids and diabetes. Screening for vascular disease is generally most beneficial for people with one or more risk factors for vascular disease.
