Whether it’s from a car crash, a fall, or a sports injury, chronic neck pain can be debilitating. And if you’re one of the millions who suffer, you know the traditional treatment of rest, medication and manipulation doesn’t always do the trick. Now, there’s a new method. Watch this story presented on WKNO-TV Channel 10's Smart Medicine show to learn more.

Using advanced technology, the multicervical unit allows therapists to develop an individualized, targeted treatment plan. The unit — often called "the missing link in neck rehabilitation" — pinpoints difficult-to-target weakness and muscle imbalance, which can cause chronic neck pain.

Baptist Rehabilitation is the first in the metro-Memphis area to offer this new technology. Patients can receive treatment at Baptist Rehabilitation-Germantown, Baptist Rehabilitation-Bartlett and Baptist Rehabilitation-Midtown. To be treated using the MCU, patients must have a physician referral.

Traditionally, neck injuries were treated with rest, medication and manipulation. While MCU does not take the place of traditional treatments for neck pain and injury, it defines the source of the pain, prevents recurrences and gives patients increased neck strength and range of motion, resulting in much less pain and overall improvements in quality of life. For more information about the MCU, please call 901-757-3458.
