On behalf of the entire staff, welcome to NEA Baptist. With your admission to the hospital, you become our guest as well as our patient. The primary interest of everyone here is to make your stay as pleasant as possible and to hasten your recovery. Our overall goal is to practice the golden rule. We strive to treat each patient in the same way we would want to be treated if we were patients at NEA Baptist.
We hope this website answers some of the questions you may have. We constantly strive for further improvement in our services, and we welcome your comments and suggestions as to how we may serve you. Admission/Discharge Your admission to NEA Baptist is scheduled by your doctor, who is a member of our medical staff. Patients are asked to preadmit at their earliest opportunity. The preadmission procedure saves you valuable time and makes the admissions process easier. Patients are asked to arrive at Admissions (located in the main lobby of the hospital) between 6:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. weekdays. Admissions are handled through the emergency room on Saturday, Sunday and after hours. We make every effort to accommodate your preference in room assignment. However, room assignment is also determined by factors such as your doctor’s orders, the type of care you need, and room availability. Critically ill and emergency patients receive immediate attention and first priority for admission. The admissions phone number is 870-972-7252. What to Bring You need only a minimum of personal items such as gowns, pajamas, robe, slippers, and essential toiletry articles. You should bring insurance information such as your insurance card, claim forms, Medicare or Medicaid card, or military ID (CHAMPUS or TRICARE). Be sure to bring your own containers for glasses, contact lenses, or dentures. Bring your current medications. Valuables Please do not bring valuables with you to the hospital. NEA Baptist only is responsible if these items are deposited in our safe upon your admission. Parents are urged to use caution when bringing children to the hospital as visitors. Likewise, it is inadvisable to have visitors who are ill. If you have a question about the number of visitors permitted, please ask a nurse. Please do not leave children unattended. Rest is vital so please respect the need for a quiet environment. Top of PageSmoke-Free Policy NEA Baptist serves as a model for our community in the area of promoting the good health of our staff and influencing public attitudes about smoking. Arkansas State Law (Act 134) prohibits the use of tobacco products within our facilities or on the hospital campus/properties. NEA Baptist supports this law; therefore, smoking or the use of other tobacco products is no longer allowed by our employees, patients, and visitors on the premises. Mail and Email Our volunteers deliver mail addressed to you to your room. The mailing address for the hospital should be posted as: YOUR NAME NEA Baptist 3024 Stadium Blvd. Jonesboro, AR 72401 Mail received after you have been discharged is forwarded to your home. Patients may also receive e-mails through our website at nea.baptistonline.org. Emails are distributed daily, M-F. Flowers Flowers are taken directly to your room as they are received. Top of PageNewspapers The local newspaper is provided and delivered, free of charge, to each patient by our auxiliary. Newspaper vending machines are located at the north end of the hospital by the gift shop. Housekeeping If you need assistance with housekeeping or linen service in your room, please contact your nurse. Family Waiting Rooms For the convenience of your family and friends, the waiting rooms are located near the nurses' stations. You are asked to help keep noise to a minimum, as patients may be resting. A separate waiting room for family members of patients undergoing cardiac surgery is located on the second floor. Snacks and refreshments are available 24 hours a day from vending machines located in the cafeteria. Dietary Dietitians are specialists in food and nutrition. In accordance with your physician’s order, they help you select your special diet. If you have questions for a dietitian, call 870-972-7344. Top of PageCase Management On your physician's order, a case manager counsels with patients and their families, assists with home care arrangements, refers to other community services, and coordinates placement in extended care facilities upon discharge. If you need to know what services might be available to you in your recovery, please request to consult with a case manager. Nondiscrimination Policy In accordance with Title VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and its implementing regulations, NEA Baptist, directly or through contractual or other arrangements, admits and treats all persons without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sex, age, disability, or national origin in its provision of services and benefits, including assignments or transfers within the facility and referrals to or from the facility. Staff privileges are granted without regard to race, color, or national origin. Top of PagePastoral Care NEA Baptist is concerned about providing total care for the patient and recognizes the importance of the spiritual part of life. Our chaplain can be reached by calling 7470 or by dialing 0. The chaplain is available for crisis, counseling, support in facing illness, and help with spiritual concerns of the family as well as the patient. In addition, clergy of any denomination can be contacted to assist in meeting your particular religious needs. A prayer chapel is open at all times for use by patients, families, and visitors. Organ and Tissue Donation NEA Baptist is required by law to inform the family of a potential donor of the option of donating an organ and/or tissue for transplantation. NEA Baptist has a procedure for making these arrangements. If you have general questions about organ and/or tissue donation, please contact the chaplain, 7470 or 870-972-7470. Top of PageEthical Advisory Committee In this age of high technology, ethical dilemmas confront patients, families, physicians, and hospital staff. Such dilemmas may include deciding appropriate initiation or termination of life-sustaining treatments when death is imminent. The Ethical Advisory Committee may serve as a resource to you in addressing these issues. You can request the committee’s assistance by asking your physician, your nurse, or by calling the chaplain. Patient Education Educational materials are available for many conditions that may require hospitalization. Television programming is available at certain times to aid patients in specialized teaching, such as diabetes education. Consultation with professionals, like the dietitian, may be arranged, as required. To access patient education, please ask your doctor or attending nurse. Going Home An important stage in your recovery is discharge from the hospital. To simplify this process, you will need to remember these steps:
