NEA Baptist offers a wide range of surgical services through our inpatient and outpatient surgery departments. Our highly skilled staff is prepared to make you as comfortable as possible during your procedure and provide you with quality patient care.
Outpatient Surgery
Admission: Your admission to NEA Baptist is scheduled by your doctor, who is a member of our medical staff. Patients are asked to pre-admit at their scheduled time. The preadmission procedure saves you valuable time and makes the admission process easier.
Instructions for Outpatient Surgery: An outpatient is registered for services upon the doctor’s request. Outpatients should go to the admissions office, where personnel complete the registration process. The patient is directed to the appropriate department for outpatient services. Please call the pre-admission nurse at 870-972-7086 from 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. if you have any questions regarding instructions or if we can serve you in any way.
Going Home: An important stage in your recovery is discharge from the hospital. To simplify this process, please remember these steps:
- Your physician writes a discharge order on your chart when you are medically ready to leave the hospital.
- Discharge information is discussed with you, including medications, diet, and allowable physical activity. Your doctor also lets you know if an office visit is necessary after your discharge.
- Check your room for personal belongings and reclaim your valuables from the hospital safe, if needed.
- When your transportation arrives, please allow us to escort you from the hospital. Covered entrances are available at the main entrance to the hospital and The Women’s Center.
Inpatient Surgery
What to expect:
- The Morning of Your Surgery: You will need only a minimum of personal items such as gowns, pajamas, robe, slippers, and essential toiletries. You should bring insurance information such as your insurance card, claim forms, Medicare or Medicaid card or military ID (Champus). Be sure to bring your own containers for glasses, contact lenses or dentures.
- In the Operating Room: You meet your nurse and anesthesia provider here. Also, you are asked to verify what surgical procedure you are having and to mark the site. Any questions you may have can be answered at this time.
- Anesthesiology: There are a variety of anesthetics available today. Your anesthesia provider discusses your options based on your surgical needs and health status.
- In the Recovery Room: You are closely monitored until you are fully alert. Should you have pain or nausea post-operation, your nurse manages it. Your time in recovery is usually less than one hour, and then are transported to your hospital room.
