Baptist Lauderdale’s radiology department offers a wide array of exams and convenient hours for physicians needing to schedule diagnostic tests for their patients. For more information or to make an appointment, please call 731-221-2424.

Diagnostic Radiography
  • Hours of operation: 24 hours a day/7 days a week

  • Appointment required: No, but it is best to come during normal operating hours (7 a.m. – 5 p.m.) for non-emergent exams.

  • Written doctor’s order required: Yes

  • Exams offered: Diagnostic X-rays of the entire body (chest, abdomen, hips, extremities, etc.)

  • Preparation for exam: None

Computed Tomography (CT Scan)
  • Hours of operation: 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday – Friday. After hours on-call for emergency room

  • Appointment required: Yes

  • Written doctor’s order required: Yes

  • Exams offered: Routine CTs of the head, neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis, and extremities. CTA chest, CTA abdomen, kidney stone protocol, appendix protocol, high resolution chest

  • Preparation for exam: These exams often require the use of contrast media to be injected through an IV.

Ultrasound (Sonography)
  • Hours of operation: 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Monday – Friday. After hours on-call for emergency room

  • Appointment required: Yes

  • Written doctor’s order required: Yes

  • Exams offered: Abdomen complete, liver/gallbladder, aorta, pelvic, venous doppler, arterial doppler, carotid doppler, testicular, renal, retroperitoneal, breast, echocardiography

  • Preparation for exam: Physician’s discretion


Nuclear Medicine
  • Hours of operation: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday – Friday

  • Appointment required: Yes

  • Written doctor’s order required: Yes

  • Exams offered: Whole body bone scan, 3 phase bone scan, hida scan, liver/spleen scan, gastric emptying scan, vq scan, and thyroid uptake/scan

  • Preparation for exam: Nuclear medicine exams require a small dose of a radioactive isotope to be swallowed, inhaled or injected through an IV.


Mammography
  • Hours of operation: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday
  • Appointment required: Yes
  • Written doctor’s order required: Yearly routine screening mammograms do not require a doctor’s order. Any tests needed to further examine potential problems require a written order.
  • Exams offered: Screening mammography, diagnostic mammography. Exams are performed by a dedicated mammography technologist, read by a radiologist, and run through a computer aided detection system.
  • Preparation for exam: Avoidance of deodorants or powders before the mammogram.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
  • Hours of operation: 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Monday – Thursday
  • Appointment required: Yes
  • Written doctor’s order required: Yes
  • Exams offered: Head, neck, shoulders, elbows, wrist, hands, cervical spine, thoracic spine, lumbar spine, pelvis, hips, knees, ankles, feet and long bones of the extremities
  • Preparation for exam: None
