General Classes and Events


Diabetes Education
Individuals receive evaluations of their health status, knowledge, skills and support systems, instruction in diabetes management and assistance in setting measurable goals. A multidisciplinary team of registered nurses, dietitians and pharmacists teach classes about the disease process, goal setting, medications, self-monitoring, nutrition and exercise.
A one-on-one visit with a nurse is offered to evaluate the effectiveness of the program and participants' skills and knowledge. Diabetes instruction for pregnancy is also available.

Surgical Weight Loss Procedure Information Seminars
George Woodman, M.D., of Midsouth Bariatrics will talk about the benefits and risks of weight loss surgery and its growing use in the treatment of morbid obesity. Woodman, one of the first surgeons in the U.S. to perform the LAP-BAND® System procedure, has performed numerous weight-loss surgeries.
