The rehabilitation staff at Baptist Memphis is experienced in the evaluation and treatment of infants, children and teen-agers with orthopedic, sensory and neuromotor disorders.
Baptist Memphis offers comprehensive outpatient pediatric rehabilitation services for children from birth to 18 years of age. A team of therapists provides physical, occupational and speech-language therapy through therapeutic activities, sport-specific rehabilitation and patient/family education. The rehabilitation staff at Baptist Memphis is experienced in the evaluation and treatment of infants, children and teen-agers with orthopedic, sensory and neuromotor disorders.

Pediatric Occupational Therapy
Baptist Memphis’ pediatric occupational therapists address deficits hindering a patient’s progression through normal development, as well as a patient’s ability to perform activities of daily living, including work, play, self-care and leisure activities. The method of intervention varies according to the patient’s age and diagnosis.
Occupational therapy treatment is available for, but not limited to, the following diagnoses:
- Brachial plexus injury
- Cerebral palsy
- Hemiplegia
- Autism spectrum disorders
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
- Sensory integration dysfunction
- Prematurity
- Torticollis

Pediatric Physical Therapy
Baptist Memphis’ pediatric physical therapy promotes independent functioning using specialized techniques and/or equipment, such as mobility training, play therapy and gait training.
Physical therapy is available to treat the following diagnoses/injuries, among others:
- Cerebral palsy
- Down’s syndrome
- Spina bifida
- Torticollis
- Abnormal gait disturbances
- Developmental delays
- Abnormal tonal deficits
- Muscular dystrophy
- Brain injuries
- Congenital deficits/syndromes

Pediatric Speech-Language Pathology
Baptist Memphis’s pediatric speech-language pathology program provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of children birth to 18 years of age for speech, language, swallowing, feeding and oral motor skills. Videofluoroscopic evaluation of swallowing also is available.
Diagnoses that may be treated include:
- Dysphagia
- Down’s syndrome
- Head traumas
- Voice disorders
- Prematurity
- Cleft palate and related disorders
