Baptist Announces Partnership with M. D. Anderson Physicians Network
UPDATE: May 1, 2007 - Effective May 1, Baptist Memorial Health Care will no longer be formally affiliated with M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. Baptist is still committed to providing patients with advanced cancer care close to home.
Baptist Memorial Health Care and The West Clinic recently announced they have formed an alliance with M. D. Anderson Physicians Network®, further enhancing the level of cancer care available to patients in the Mid-South.
Because of the leading-edge care Baptist already provides and the excellent reputation of Baptist-affiliated physicians, the M. D. Anderson Physicians Network – a subsidiary of The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center – selected Baptist as its ally in the fight against cancer, according to M. D. Anderson officials. Baptist is one of only five health care systems in the nation to provide services under the M. D. Anderson Cancer Manager Program®, a full-service cancer disease management program developed and directed by physicians at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
“This partnership allows us to build on our strong foundation of delivering high-quality, compassionate care,” said Gordon Lintz, administrator of cancer services for Baptist. “We can now take cancer care to a whole new level while allowing patients to receive care closer to home.”
The partnership will be exclusive to the Memphis metropolitan market for the first year. Regional Baptist facilities and physicians will be able to join the partnership after the initial implementation.
