 Baptist Home Care & Hospice Receives Award for Excellence Baptist Home Care & Hospice-North Mississippi recently earned a Gallup Award for Healthcare Excellence 2005 for achieving and maintaining high patient satisfaction. The award, presented by the Gallup Healthcare Group, honors leaders in the health care industry that develop innovative solutions to improve the quality of their organizations. Baptist Home Care & Hospice-North Mississippi is one of nine winners from a pool of 29 applicants chosen based on the difficulty of the hospital’s challenge, innovation and creativity used in addressing the challenge and demonstration of improvement through measurable results. “This award means so much to us because it was a team effort,” said Tammy Payne, director of Baptist Home Care & Hospice-North Mississippi. “Our patient satisfaction team developed some great ways to help enhance the care we provide our patients, and our staff executed them amazingly well.” As an award recipient, Payne presented the hospital’s case study to other award recipients and health care peers at the Gallup Healthcare Group’s annual Healthcare Forum in Washington, D.C. The case study also was featured in Gallup’s annual Journal for Healthcare Excellence. Gallup Healthcare Group works with clients in all segments of the health care industry – providers, payers, manufacturers and distributors – and with for-profit, nonprofit, government and academic organizations. Company consultants work with health care organizations to implement solutions to achieve increased and sustainable business outcomes through increasing patient and physician loyalty, enhancing employee engagement and retention and achieving business results. Baptist Home Care & Hospice-North Mississippi is a home health agency owned and managed by Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi. Based in Batesville, Miss., the agency is licensed to provide home health services to patients in 16 counties in Northern Mississippi. Services provided include skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and social work. Baptist North Mississippi Welcomes New Endocrinologist Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi is pleased to welcome a new endocrinologist, Dr. Mart Chandler. Chandler recently formed Oxford Endocrinology Consultants. Chandler specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders affecting endocrine glands, including diabetes and metabolic disorders. A native of Raleigh, Miss., Chandler earned an undergraduate degree in chemistry from Mississippi College in Clinton, Miss. He completed an additional undergraduate degree and completed postgraduate studies in pharmacy at The University of Mississippi. He received his medical degree from the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City, Mo. Chandler completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Ala., where he also served as chief medical resident. He recently completed a fellowship in endocrinology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Chandler is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, the American College of Physicians and the Endocrine Society.
