Baptist North Mississippi’s Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Program Awarded Three-Year Accreditation
The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities recently awarded an accreditation to Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi for its acute inpatient rehabilitation program. CARF, an independent, not-for-profit accrediting organization, establishes consumer-focused standards to help acute rehabilitation programs measure and improve the quality of their programs and services.
The three-year accreditation represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an acute rehabilitation program that has demonstrated substantial conformance to CARF’s standards.
According to the report, “An acute rehabilitation program receiving a three-year accreditation has put itself through a rigorous review process and has demonstrated to the surveyors during on an on-site visit that its programs and services are measurable, accountable and of the highest quality.”
Baptist has been providing acute inpatient rehabilitation to residents from a 12-county service area since October 2003. During that time, the hospital has provided outstanding rehabilitation services for patients recovering from strokes, amputations, fractured hips, severe arthritis, total joint replacements and other debilitating conditions. The program’s goal is to prepare patients to return home so they can accomplish their activities of daily living as independently as possible.
With the addition of the acute unit, Baptist’s rehabilitative services provides a comprehensive spectrum of patient care beginning with therapy in the acute stages of a hospital stay because of injury, illness or surgery.
The 9,000-square-foot unit houses 13 beds specifically for rehab patients. The unit features a custom gymnasium installed with innovative equipment, as well as a fully functional kitchen and laundry unit used to retrain basic living skills using real-world scenarios.
