The LORD gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
Proverbs 2:6

Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi recently completed construction on a $2.5 million unit for inpatient rehabilitation services. With the addition of the acute unit, Baptist Rehabilitative Services provides a comprehensive spectrum of patient care beginning with therapy in the acute stages of a hospital stay because of injury, illness or surgery.

The 9,000-square-foot unit created 13 additional beds specifically for rehab patients. The unit features a custom gymnasium installed with innovative equipment, as well as a fully functional kitchen and laundry unit used to retrain basic living skills using real-world scenarios.

What Impairments/Problems Can Benefit From Rehabilitation?

Common impairments addressed in therapy include:
  • Cognitive (thinking skills) deficits
  • Loss of mobility or difficulty walking
  • Loss of coordination and balance
  • Difficulty with speech and language
  • Swallowing difficulties
  • Loss of bowel and/or bladder control
  • Difficulty with everyday activities, e.g. eating, grooming, dressing, bathing and homemaking skills

Our Services

Advanced therapy equipment and friendly staff provide an atmosphere that helps patients focus on their daily therapy goals.

Our patients are challenged and encouraged to believe in themselves so they can regain their confidence and a high level of independence.

Patients will be required to participate in a minimum of three hours of therapy a day. Therapy will be provided a minimum of five days per week.

The rehabilitation program focuses on the following three principles:
  • Begin therapy as soon as possible
  • Use a coordinated team of rehabilitation professionals
  • Involve the family

Patients and their families are the center of our program. Together with the rehab team, they are actively involved in establishing goals, participating in therapy and planning for discharge to a homelike setting.
