Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City restructures cancer care services
Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City has joined with Radiation Oncology Associates, headquartered in Jackson, Tenn., to create the Cancer Care Center of Union City.
“This allows us to build on our strong foundation of delivering high-quality, compassionate care close to home,” said Derick Ziegler, administrator and CEO for Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.
Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City has offered cancer services since 1989. Located inside the Baptist Medical Arts Center, the facility has a linear accelerator, board certified radiation oncologists, radiation therapy technicians, a dosimetrist, a physicist, a nurse and a receptionist. The facility also features visual therapy designed to lift patients’ spirits while they undergo treatment.
“Radiation Oncology Associates is pleased to work with Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City, an organization recognized for outstanding quality. This relationship will enable the center to continue to provide advanced services, including intensity modulated radiation therapy and image-guided radiation therapy to our community,” said Dr. William D. Permenter Jr., founder and medical director of Radiation Oncology Associates.
Permenter has been providing radiation oncology services in Union City for almost 20 years. Radiation Oncology Associates has offices in Jackson, Dyersburg and Paris, Tenn.


Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City Names names new assistant administrator
Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City has named Kyle Armstrong as its new assistant administrator.
Armstrong will begin working at Baptist Union City on Feb. 2, 2009, after he completes an administrative fellowship at Baptist Memorial Health Care’s headquarters in Memphis, Tenn.
“I look forward to working with and learning from the team at Baptist Union City,” said Armstrong. “The hospital has a wonderful reputation throughout our Baptist Memorial Health Care system and the region. My wife, Tabitha, and I look forward to living in Northwest Tennessee.”
Armstrong has an master of business administration degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and will receive a master’s degree in health care administration from UAB in May 2009. He received his bachelor’s degree in public relations and business administration from Baylor University in Waco, Texas.
“We are excited to have Kyle join the leadership team at Baptist Union City and know that he will be a great addition to our hospital and our community,” said Derick Ziegler, administrator and CEO.
