Photographer Susan Duke will demonstrate how to download and save images and how to take a better photograph, along with many other aspects of photography.

What You Always Wanted to Know About Problem Feet
Tuesday, April 29, noon to 1 p.m.

Dr. Tyrone Davis, board-certified podiatrist

Davis will provide an overview of foot pain; common foot conditions, including arthritis, arch strain and plantar fasciitis; sports injuries; foot health for diabetes; and comfort and performance footwear.

Free Skin Cancer Screenings
Friday, May 9, 9 a.m. to noon

Dr. Rex Amonette, dermatologist, Memphis Dermatology Clinic

Early detection is key to preventing skin cancer. In conjunction with National Skin Cancer Detection and Prevention Month, Baptist Women’s Hospital will offer free skin cancer screenings to the community. Participants will be given a specific time slot upon registration.

Debunking the Diet Mentality
Tuesday, May 13, noon to 1 p.m.

Leslie Schilling, nutrition counselor and consultant, Schilling Nutrition Therapy

For many people, diets don’t work and cause frustration and disappointment. This seminar gives participants the tools needed to make more healthful food choices.

Grow Baby Grow (conference for health care professionals)
May 15 or 16, 7:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.


This conference for clinicians will share information about creating a gentle, cue-based feeding practice.

Weeknight Childbirth Education

This four-week series covers information on the process of labor, pain management options, basic breathing and relaxation techniques and a tour of the labor and delivery facilities. At the end of the four-week series, you may elect to take an additional natural childbirth class that covers advanced breathing techniques, massage therapy and comfort measures for those planning the "natural delivery." The natural childbirth information is included in the Saturday class. The cost of the four-week series is $55, and the cost of the additional classes is $20. One-Day Saturday Childbirth Education

An alternative for those who can't attend on weeknights, this all-day Saturday class covers the basics of childbirth: what to expect in labor and delivery, pain management options and breathing and relaxation techniques. A tour of labor and delivery unit is also included. The fee for this class is $75.

Expectant Parents Class

Topics covered in this single-session class cover "baby basics" including information on infant care, surviving the first few weeks and infant safety. Dynamic Dads

Join Baptist’s new Dynamic Dads program, where experts train rookie fathers to be responsible and involved in the life of their newborns. A coach and a team of veteran dads will lead a free three-hour workshop. This powerful “training camp” will equip each dad with the skills and attitude to be a great and dynamic dad.

Lamaze Refresher

An abbreviated class for those who have previously attended childbirth classes and are needing a "refresher" on Lamaze or natural childbirth techniques. It covers a review of the labor process and breathing and relaxation techniques. The cost is $25.

Family Education

Grandparents Class

Designed as an update on childbirth and parenting practices, this class covers infant care, assisting the new parents and tips for grandparents. This single-session class is offered on a weeknight every other month. The cost is $20.

Infant Safety/CPR

This single-session class covers CPR techniques (but not certification), infant safety, basic first aid and car seat safety. Grandparents are also welcome to attend this class. This class is offered one Saturday a month. The class is free.

Sibling Class

This class is designed for children expecting a new brother or sister. This "hands-on" interactive class prepares siblings for the new arrival. Information is also provided to parents on making the transition easier. Children from the ages of 2-10 are welcome to attend. The cost is $20 per child or $25 for two children or more in the same family.
