Where Seeds of Knowledge Grow into Wisdom for Healthy Living
Baptist Memorial Hospital for Women houses the Dr. Sam P. Patterson Library, a unique resource dedicated to providing consumer-oriented health and wellness information to patients, physicians and the Mid-South community. This lending library is conveniently located on the first floor of the hospital for easy access and convenient parking. The Patterson Library offers more than 2,000 items, including books, videotapes, audiotapes, CD-ROM programs, pamphlets, periodicals and Internet access with three private stations for viewing videos or Web sites. Children are welcome and have their own learning/play area that allows family members to leisurely browse the library. The library collection is composed of more than 70 topics of information and categorized for easy access. Some of these topics include:
The library offers free health seminars in the hospital’s education classrooms. Physicians, nurses and other highly qualified professionals speak on a wide variety of topics, ranging from health and disease management, personal safety, gardening, animals that comfort and heal, to balancing a busy lifestyle. A number of these qualified speakers are willing to share their expertise with community groups outside of the hospital as part of our speaker’s bureau program. The Dr. Sam P. Patterson Library’s trained staff can help you access information easily, arrange for speakers and provide information on upcoming seminars. There is a convenient drop box at the front entrance of the hospital for returning items from your car or after hours. Books can be borrowed for two weeks at a time and renewed by phone or in person for an additional two weeks. For more information about the library or hours, you may call the Dr. Sam P.
