These are some questions to ask your doctor or pharmacist when you are on medication:
* Why do I need this medication?
* How does this drug work?
* How soon will this drug work?
* How long should I take this medication?
* What are the side effects of this drug?
* Is this medication expensive?
* What do I do if I miss a scheduled dose of this drug?
* May I take this medicine with food or fluids?
* May I work, drive, exercise or fly while taking this medicine?
* Will this drug interact with other drugs I am taking?

Tell your doctor and pharmacist if you have any allergies to medicines. An allergy can be a sudden rash, difficulty breathing, nausea, vomiting, lightheadedness or other symptom. A medicine allergy usually happens soon after you take a medication, but drug sensitivities may also occur hours after taking the drug.

Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before you start taking any new medication. Don't let other people take any of your prescription medicines, or any medicines without checking with a healthcare provider. Be sure to take your medicines, exactly as prescribed. Know the names and types of medicines that you take routinely.
