As young people start to mature, the topic of dating comes up. Just like roller blading, the first few times are awkward and clumsy. A person is unsure, and does not know exactly what to do. Dating is the same way. Dating relationships that take practice.
Each family may have their own dating rules. Some families do not allow dating until a teen is of a certain age. Other families allow dating in groups, or with another couple. Some families allow dating only to certain places, like school dances but not the movies. Other teens can date, but cannot be driven by another teen.
There is often pressure on teens to date. Dating and relationships take up a lot of time. Many teens choose to avoid dating and focus on their school, music, sports activities or other hobbies. That does not mean that these teens are not having fun. It's probably best to keep dating casual during the early teen years. Teens are still learning who they are at this age. Groups dates allow young teens to learn the skills of interacting with the opposite sex in a safe situation. Having the ability to date different people lets you see what kind of person you like to be with best. Many times dating relationships turn more steady as teens get older.
Sometimes people think that if they spend money on a date that they are entitled to sex. This is not true. But because of it, it may be best to split dating expenses down the middle. If dating is something you are not that interested in, there are clubs for teens at school or in religious groups, that can let teens meet others without the pressure to date. If dating concerns get you down, talk to an adult, a counselor or a healthcare provider.
