During your female exam, your health care worker will check the position of your womb, known also by the term uterus. The uterus may be tipped or tilted forwards or backwards, or be straight down the middle. Usually the uterus tilts forward.
It used to be thought that a woman with a tipped uterus could not get pregnant. This is not true. Some women who have pelvic inflammatory disease or endometriosis are left with scarring that causes a tipped womb. A normal healthy woman with a tipped womb has nothing to fear. This is just a normal variation of female anatomy.
