Memphis, Tenn., Feb. 1, 2000 - Baptist Memorial Health Care Foundation and First Tennessee Bank are looking for outstanding Mid-South students to honor in the annual Shining Star contest, which recognizes students who have made a significant impact in their community or a positive difference in the lives of others through good citizenship or leadership roles.
A male and female winner will be selected from the first through third grade, fourth through sixth grade, seventh through ninth grade, and 10th through 12th grade. Each "shining star" will receive a $100 savings bond and four tickets to the Baptist Kids Festival on Saturday, Sept. 16 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Collierville. Additionally, the organization of the person nominating a winning "shining star" will receive $250.
