Memphis, Tenn., Mar. 31, 2000 - Stephen C. Reynolds, president and CEO of Baptist Memorial Health Care Corp., recently was named chairman-elect of the National Committee for Quality Health Care, an organization that strives to promote quality health care by providing a forum for health care leaders to exchange ideas and identify and meet health care quality challenges. Reynolds has served as president and CEO of Baptist since 1994. He joined the organization in 1971 as an administrative resident and has held several executive positions during his 29-year career with Baptist. As chairman-elect of NCQHC, he will work with the chairman and CEO to craft new programs and set new goals for the organization. He has been a member of NCQHC since 1988, and a board member since 1996.
Reynolds also served as chairman of the Tennessee Hospital Association from 1989 through 1990, and is a Fellow in the American College of Health Care Executives. In addition, he served as Chairman of the Memphis Area Chamber of Commerce in 1997. He serves as a member of the boards of Baptist Memorial Health Care Corp., Ducks Unlimited Inc., University of Memphis and Arkansas State University Foundation.
A member of the Health Care Research and Development Institute, Reynolds is also involved in health care education. He serves as an adjunct instructor in health administration and preceptor in the graduate program in health administration at both Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is also a member of the Advisory Board for the Washington University John M. Olin School of Business. Reynolds holds a bachelor of science degree from Arkansas State University and a master of health administration degree from Washington University School of Medicine.
