Memphis, Tenn., Apr. 5, 2000 - LaDon Jones, vice president of Baptist Memorial Health Care Corp., was recently named co-chairman of the Memphis Shelby County Campaign Against Youth Violence.
The National Campaign Against Youth Violence was formed as a response to the epidemic rates of youth violence in America. Conceived at the May 1999 White House Summit on Youth Violence, the campaign's mission is to enlist private citizens and corporations in a national effort to reduce youth violence. Memphis was chosen as the first city to launch this campaign.
"LaDon is an ideal choice for this position," said David Hogan, executive vice president and chief operating officer for Baptist. "He is a true leader who has proven his capabilities in working with youth. He has a vision for this city that I know will help the campaign succeed."
In his 26-year career with Baptist, Jones has held a variety of positions and was most recently director of student services for Baptist College of Health Sciences. He has the distinction of being the first male graduate of the Baptist Memorial Hospital School of Nursing (now the Baptist College of Health Sciences.)
Jones serves on the board of directors for Porter Leath Children's Home, Hope Christian Community Foundation, Leadership Memphis and the Memphis/Shelby County Crime Commission. He also serves on the social concerns committee at his church, Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church.
