Memphis, Tenn., April 28, 2000 - In honor of Mother's Day, Sprint PCS has invited the Baptist Women's Health Center's mobile mammography unit to visit its Cordova store, 7990 Trinity Road, where Mid-South women will have the opportunity to get their yearly mammograms in a matter of minutes. The screenings will take place on May 15, the day after Mother's Day.
Anyone stopping by the Sprint PCS store for a mammogram or for health information on May 15 will receive a 10-minute Sprint pre-paid long-distance calling card. The card features a pink ribbon, in recognition of breast cancer awareness. The Sprint PCS store also will be giving away pink roses to customers throughout Mother's Day weekend.
The mammography unit will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the procedure should take about 15 minutes. Anyone interested in having a mammogram should call (901) 226-5907 to make an appointment. Participants should also bring their insurance cards with them to their appointment.
As well as making frequent stops at local businesses and organizations, Baptist's mobile mammography unit is an integral part of an outreach program that provides mammography screenings, follow-up care and breast cancer education for medically underserved women in the Mid-South.
