Memphis, Tenn., Aug. 14, 2000 - Baptist Memorial Health Care recently received the Riskmaster 2000 Industry Leadership Award for Healthcare & Hospitals at the annual Riskmaster Conference in Hilton Head, S.C.
The award recognizes Baptist's use of Riskmaster software in collecting data associated with its medication system variance initiative. The initiative, implemented by a multidisciplinary team of Baptist employees, ensures accuracy and safety in the health system's medication use system.
"This award is such an honor," said Karen Farley, director of corporate risk management for Baptist. "It recognizes our medication use system as being among the best in our industry and it reflects the quality of our staff, who took the initiative to improve an effective system making it better for our patients."
Riskmaster software allows companies and organizations to proactively analyze risk administration, risk prevention and risk control factors influencing their operation.
Baptist Memorial Health Care consists of 17 hospitals, 15 home care and hospice locations, eight minor medical centers, and 13 behavioral health locations. Baptist employs approximately 14,000 people and offers a wide range of services including cardiac care, women and children's services, cancer, orthopedic, rehabilitation and senior care.
