Ripley, Tenn., May 17, 2002 - Baptist Memorial Hospital-Lauderdale recently won the Lauderdale County Chamber
of Commerce’s Large Business of the Year award.
This annual award recognizes businesses that have made significant contributions to the community through
community service and corporate sponsorship.
Baptist Lauderdale supported the community by participating in a number of activities and organizations,
including the Rotary Club, Exchange Club, Youth Leadership Board and the Lauderdale County Health Council. In
addition, Baptist Lauderdale also served as a corporate sponsor for the Lauderdale County Tomato Festival and
Relay for Life, an annual race held by the American Cancer Society.
This year was the first year Baptist Lauderdale hosted Kid’s Fest, which focused on children’s health and safety.
The event featured music, games, live entertainment, and P.D. Parrot, Baptist’s official pediatric mascot. More
than 1,200 children attended the free event.
Baptist Memorial Hospital-Lauderdale, located in Ripley, Tennessee, is a subsidiary of Baptist Memorial Health
Care Corp. of Memphis. The 70-bed acute care facility includes a three-bed intensive care unit, surgery
department, medical/surgical wing, outpatient services, outpatient rehabilitation unit, 10-bed senior care unit for
geriatric mental health services, intensive outpatient program for senior adults and outpatient behavioral health
care. The hospital also provides a 24-hour physician-staffed emergency department.
