Memphis, Tenn., July 26, 2002 - LaDon Jones, vice president of the Baptist College of Health Sciences, recently was elected to serve on the Harvard Institute for Management and Leadership in Education advisory board for a three-year term starting this fall.
Jones was one of 86 higher education professionals chosen to attend the Institute from June 9-21. At the end of the session, he was chosen by fellow attendees to represent the 2002 class of participants on the MLE advisory board. Each year, institute participants choose a member of their class to serve on the board.
The MLE advisory board comprises higher education leaders from colleges, universities and professional associations who help MLE program staff sustain the excellence of the institute. The board meets once or twice a year to review the institute’s evaluations from the previous year, look at overall trends in higher education leadership and advise changes in the curriculum, faculty and class composition.
“We are so proud that Dr. Jones was chosen for this prestigious position,” said Rose Temple, president of the Baptist College of Health Sciences. “He has so much knowledge and expertise in health care education, and he will have much to offer as a member of this board.”
Jones was the first man to graduate from the Baptist Hospital School of Nursing. After that, he earned a master’s degree in health administration and a doctorate in administration health services from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He has held several positions at Baptist since 1974, including director of student services at the Baptist College of Health Sciences. He became a Baptist Memorial Health Care corporate vice president in 1999, and was named vice president of the Baptist College of Health Sciences in 2002.
