Memphis, Tenn., July 26, 2002 - Ruth Mitchell, the Baptist College of Health Sciences’ college counselor, and Pam Moon, dean of student services at the Baptist College of Health Sciences, recently were appointed to serve on educational organization boards.
Mitchell was elected to serve as president of the West Tennessee Counseling Association. Her term began on July 1, 2002, and lasts for a year. The West Tennessee Counseling Association is the local chapter of the American Counseling Association. The ACA is a not-for-profit, professional and educational organization that supports counselors by providing leadership training, publications, continuing education opportunities and advocacy services.
Moon received an invitation to serve as a member of the foundation board of the Southern Association of College Student Affairs and will serve on the board for three years. SACSA serves a 13-state region and provides professional development and resources to student affairs professionals at colleges and universities.
The Baptist College of Health Sciences offers bachelor of science degrees in seven majors, including a new major in health care management. It also offers completion degrees for licensed or registered nurses and respiratory therapists.
In addition, the college provides a variety of class schedules, from traditional day classes to evening and weekend programs, designed so professionals will not have to alter their work schedules to attend. The college is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and participates in many federal and state financial aid programs.
