Memphis, Tenn., Sept. 9, 2002 - To celebrate the launch of Baptist Memorial Hospital-Tipton’s new open magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine, the hospital will host a photography contest called, “Wide Open Spaces.”

Anyone interested can participate in the contest by submitting a landscape photo by Oct. 7 to the administrative office at Baptist Tipton, 1995 Highway 51 South, Covington, TN 38019. The winning photos will be revealed at a free community event at Baptist Tipton on Oct. 22. All winning photos will be used as visual therapy throughout the hospital.

“These photos will offer beautiful art throughout the hospital to help make patients and their families more comfortable,” said Glenn Baker, CEO and administrator of Baptist Tipton. “We are proud to provide high-quality health care close to home and have the community involved in the growth of the hospital.”

Baptist Tipton provides diagnostic, surgical and rehabilitation services and staffs a 24-hour emergency room. The open MRI unit will be housed in the hospital’s radiology department, which includes three diagnostic imaging rooms, two ultrasound rooms, a computerized axial tomography machine, nuclear medicine and a mammography suite.
