Memphis, Tenn., Oct. 6, 2004 – P.D. Parrot, Baptist’s pediatric care mascot, has a newly remodeled online nest at www.pdparrot.org.

Online since 1999, www.pdparrot.org has recently undergone a dramatic renovation with an all-new look and “kid-friendly” navigation. The site introduces two new characters, Peep and Cheeky Monkey, who learn about health and safety from P.D. Parrot and his pediatrician friend, Dr. Allright. The new site features interactive fun and educational activities for children, such as puzzles, quizzes and games in “P.D. Parrot’s Play Pen;” lessons about fire, school, home, pool and bike safety on “Safety Street;” health and nutritional questions kids can “Ask Dr. Allright;” and recipes for nutritious and tasty snacks in the “P.D. Parrot Cuisine” section.

Hatched on March 20, 1999, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis, P.D. Parrot teaches safety, health and nutrition to children of all ages through skits and songs at appearances throughout the Mid-South.

“P.D. Parrot serves as a great resource for kids to learn about healthy living while being entertained at the same time,” Echelle Lane Rutschman, system director of corporate communications and senior communications officer for Baptist Memorial Health Care, said. “Children love to see P.D. Parrot perform and learn how to stay healthy and safe. The new Web site gives them ample opportunities to continue that education in an online environment that’s fun and easy to explore.”
