COVINGTON, Tenn., June 8, 2009 – Baptist Memorial Hospital-Tipton recently received an award from the Memphis Business Group on Health in recognition of the findings from the 2008 Memphis-area Leapfrog Hospital Survey, which surveyed Baptist Tipton among others.
According to the Leapfrog Group, the hospital fully met the high-risk treatment standards for pneumonia care. The Leapfrog Group examined 100 percent of the hospital’s patients diagnosed with pneumonia over a 12-month period to determine if the hospital met certain criteria in terms of quality and cost-saving measures.
Administrator and CEO Skipper Bondurant and chief nursing officer Chuck McGlasson accepted the award at the Memphis Business Group on Health’s annual luncheon and awards ceremony.
“We are honored that the Memphis Business Group on Health chose to acknowledge our efforts through this award,” Bondurant said. “We strive to provide all of our patients with efficient, high-quality care.”
The Leapfrog Group aims to use its members’ collective leverage to initiate breakthrough improvements in the safety, quality and affordability of health care for Americans. It was founded in November of 2000 by the Business Roundtable and is supported by its members, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Commonwealth Fund, the Agency for Health Care Research and Quality and other sources.
