MEMPHIS, Tenn., Nov. 23, 2009- For the 14th time in a row, a majority of Memphis-area residents named Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis as their hospital of choice in a national survey.
The nationally syndicated Healthcare Market Guide Ticker study of nearly 250,000 households asked consumers which hospital in their community has the highest quality and image. Hospitals in more than 300 markets were chosen, including Johns Hopkins Hospital and the Mayo Clinic. The winning hospitals received Consumer Choice awards.
"Our employees and physicians are the reasons we won this award," said Zach Chandler, administrator and CEO of Baptist Memphis. "They work so hard every day to make sure our patients receive the best care possible."
The Baptist Memphis campus includes the 706-bed hospital that is the flagship of the Baptist Memorial Health Care system. It serves as a major referral center for patients from across the Mid-South and offers many diagnostic, surgical and rehabilitation services. The hospital has added hundreds of beds in the past few years, with the opening of a new patient tower and the Baptist Heart Institute. According to HealthGrades®, an independent health care ratings organization, Baptist Memphis’ cardiac surgery, stroke, gastrointestinal, pulmonary and critical care programs were among the top 5 percent in the nation in 2009, resulting in the facility receiving Specialty Excellence Awards™.
