Baptist Memorial Health Care is committed to serving the Mid-South community. Baptist employees and physicians, through their donations of time, money, and resources, help to make the Mid-South a better community for everyone.
Baptist provides almost $26 million in charity care each year. Baptist Memorial Hospital also donates about $80,000 of free diagnostic and laboratory tests to the Church Health Center in Memphis, a clinic that serves the working poor. Many Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation employees volunteer their time and physicians donate their services.
All of the hospitals in the Baptist Memorial Health Care system offer health education and screening programs in their respective communities. These screenings include free blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol checks.
The hospitals also work with local chambers of commerce and support charitable organizations such as United Way, March of Dimes, adopt-a-school programs and many other worthwhile community organizations.
Recent examples of community care throughout the Baptist system include:
- Early pregnancy classes offered free to expectant mothers and their families by Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County, in New Albany, Miss.
- Group screening mammograms provided at reduced cost to residents of Ripley, Tenn., by Baptist Memorial Hospital-Lauderdale.
