Endovascular Laser Venous System (ELVS)
About 25 percent of all women and 15 percent of all men suffer from varicose veins. Traditional treatment options have involved vein stripping and ligation, a painful treatment that involves lengthy recovery times. Fortunately, the endovascular laser venous system, or ELVS, gives patients a simple, effective alternative to traditional surgical and chemical procedures.

ELVS is a new treatment available at Baptist that is an easier solution to eliminating varicose veins. It involves inserting a laser fiber into a vein through a tiny puncture in the skin. The laser energizes the fiber as it is withdrawn from the vein. The treated vein closes when energy is emitted from the tip of the fiber. The body then automatically routes blood to healthy veins.
